Statement Of Standards
- We care for one another.
- We keep our bodies clean and healthy with proper nutrition.
- We believe the use of any form of tobacco, illicit drugs and excessive alcohol consumption is harmful to the body and soul.
- We believe sexual relations outside the bond of marriage is contrary to the teachings of the Bible and that marriage should be held in honor.
- We believe abortion is wrong, except in a life-threatening situation to the mother.
- We care for our families and physical, mental or emotional abuse of any kind to a family member or anyone else is morally wrong.
* Some individuals may not have a membership limitation due to certain past or present medical conditions.

Monthly Contribution Request for Altrua
- If your family is more than five people, add $50 for each additional family member.
- If husband and wife are both participating, “head of household” is based on the older spouse’s age.

- Dependents over 23 years old must apply for individual plan

Altrua Height/Weight Guidelines
At Altrua, we strongly believe that maintaining a healthy weight that is proportional to your height is vital to good health and excellent quality of life. To encourage our applicants and program participants to pursue a healthy weight and overall lifestyle, our guidelines require additional monthly contributions for those who fall within certain weight tiers. - Applicants whose weight falls into the 5th tier are subject to a $100 monthly contribution increase and lifetime limitations until they can achieve a weight that is below the 5th tier.
- If at anytime Altrua HealthShare is notified that your weight has increased or was submitted incorrectly, a height/weight increase will be added to your monthly contribution.
- Altrua HealthShare offers a health and wellness program to assist prospective applicants with meeting and maintaining the required membership Height/Weight guidelines.

While our goal at Altrua is to provide convenient, affordable healthcare for as many families and individuals in need as we can, our memberships have specific guidelines regarding various things so that we can provide the best insurance possible to you. These guidelines include sharing limits on cancer coverage, recreational vehicles, maternity eligibility and adoption, and more. - If a required biennial screening is missed with clean results on file, member is responsible for 50% of the allowed amount after meeting the cancer treatment MRA
Recreational Vehicles

Injuries resulting from a recreational vehicle will be shared up to a maximum of
$10K Per Need
A Needs Processing Form is required before Altrua HealthShare will share on the member’s behalf. A recreational vehicle is a licensed or unlicensed motor vehicle operated on land or water (including ATVs, snowmobiles, motorized scooters, boats, jet skis, etc.) or a licensed motor vehicle with fewer than four wheels (including motorcycles), excluding motor homes, fifth wheels, and bumper-pull RVs. The vehicle’s operator(s) must be insured by a third party for any needs to be eligible. Altrua HealthShare will only consider the needs eligible once they have been processed by the liable third party.

Eligible For Members On Diamond And Emerald Memberships
- Year 1 – $12,000
- Years 2+ – $25,000
Adoption Sharing
- $5,000 Adoption MRA
- $5,000 eligible for sharing once the Adoption MRA has been met
- Limited to 2 adoption events per household for the lifetime of the membership
- Adoption of multiple children is 1 event
- 1st event eligible after 12 months of membership
- 2nd event eligible 12 months from the date of the last adoption event reimbursement
Needs for maternity involving complications that threaten the life of the mother or the infant and requiring care or services not normally rendered at the time of delivery are not limited but are subject to meeting the MRAs.
Altrua Healthshare Limitations
Because Altrua Healthshare is community-based and medical bills are shared between members, there are certain limitations in place regarding various medical conditions. We do not completely rule out pre-existing conditions such as cancer, type 1 diabetes, autoimmune disease, endocrine disorders, and so much more, but we do require either a 2 year or 5 year stint where you must be free of symptoms before being eligible to share bills regarding these conditions.

Altrua Ministries (dba Altrua HealthShare) is NOT an insurance company nor is the membership offered through an insurance company. Members are self-pay patients. Altrua Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation
Yes! Once you have been in Diamond or Emerald membership for 90 days. The membership shares a maximum of $12,000 in year 1 and $25,000 in years 2+ with a MRA of $5,000. See Membership Guidelines for more information.
Our membership is for anyone looking for health care that agrees to our Statement of Standards.
It is NOT a contract. You can choose to quit the membership at any time. All new members pay a $100 application fee and a $25 fee that goes to Altrua Ministries that is not refundable. Altrua HealthShare does request that proper notification be given if a member chooses to quit for any reason. Please see Resources for more information.
Once your medical provider has properly processed your medical need to be shared by the membership, the medical need is adjudicated and payment is issued through the membership escrow account.
Your monthly contribution will vary based on your age, the number of members in your family and the membership plan you choose. See Membership Plans.
We are a recognized Health Care Sharing Ministry and members are eligible for exemption from the tax penalty. See Affordable Care Act for more information.
Yes, we are part of MultiPlan which is a network that the majority of medical providers participate in. If a medical provider is not a part of the MultiPlan network, they should still accept us as your medical sharing plan of choice. See Affiliated Providers for details.
